Portland House, Lindley and Harlequin Nursery, Edgerton are celebrating Ofsted grading’s of “Outstanding” Both nurseries from the Portland Nurseries group were inspected shortly before Christmas and found to be “Outstanding” in every aspect of their provision.

Outstanding is the highest judgment that can be made by an Ofsted inspector and is given only when there is exceptional childcare provision that greatly exceeds national standards.

Ofsted praised the “dynamic practice and leadership of the nursery staff by creating an inclusive environment in which to care for the children, helping children make the best possible progress in their learning and development.”

Ofsted further highlighted “children's attitude to diversity is significantly enhanced by rich, varied and imaginative experiences; children develop a positive attitude to others and a very good understanding about the wider world and local community; children are extremely confident and self-assured.”

Both Julie Lister, Portland House manager and Ruth Tattersall the manager at Harlequin agreed by stating  “We have worked really hard to deliver the very best for the children in our care and we are both immensely proud of our staff teams.

Rosemary Murphy, Managing Director and owner of the group added, “This is one of the proudest moments of my career. We have all worked very hard supporting each other to become good reflective practitioners. To have the nurseries acknowledged by Ofsted as “Outstanding” is a wonderful way to celebrate our 20 years in childcare.”
