Local children’s author and illustrator Lynn Breeze spent the afternoon with the children, staff and parents at Holly Bank Nursery for a special story telling hour to celebrate Children’s Book Day. Lynn Breeze is the author and illustrator of the children’s board books “Pickle” and lives in nearby Hebden Bridge. We had a lovely afternoon listening to Lynn read her own stories to the children and sing nursery rhymes together.
Manager Debbie Platt explains “It’s crucial that children start exploring books from a very young age. Reading to babies, even before they understand words, sets the stage for literacy and very young children will start to associate books and reading with pleasure. It’s also a fantastic way for parents to bond with their children and have fun together. Having Lynn join us to celebrate Children’s Book Day was a great way to emphasise the importance of reading to babies.
